Schoolyear is growing fast. We build software that enables secure, scalable digital exams on student devices. Our solution is used by institutions across the globe – from Europe to Canada and Australia – to run high-stakes assessments in a modern, hybrid way.
We’re currently a small and focused team based in the Netherlands, and we’re entering our next phase of growth. To support this, we’re looking for an HR Lead who takes ownership, brings structure, and helps us scale with clarity and care. You’ll work closely with the founders to shape how we hire, onboard and grow our team – both in the Netherlands and internationally.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who enjoys building HR from the ground up in an international tech company.
What you'll do
- Take full ownership of HR – from recruitment to team experience
- Design a scalable hiring process and lead internal recruitment, especially for sales and tech roles
- Work closely with the founders to define and implement how we grow, onboard and develop our team
- Build onboarding, performance and feedback processes that are clear, lightweight and effective
- Shape and strengthen our culture, communication and collaboration as the team expands
- Organize team offsites, on-site weeks and internal rituals that connect colleagues across countries
- Support the people and workplace environment by shaping hybrid work policies, fostering team connection, and ensuring a healthy, functional workplace that enables collaboration and focus
- Set up basic employer branding to help us attract and retain great people
What we're looking for
- You live in the Netherlands and speak English and Dutch fluently
- At least 5 years of HR experience, including 2+ years in a smaller or fast-growing company
- Proven experience with internal recruitment and building effective hiring processes
- A self-starter who brings structure, clarity and initiative
- Strong communicator with a practical, people-focused approach
- Someone who values a healthy team culture and knows how to make it tangible – especially in distributed teams
